Fashion for any shape – how to highlight your best features

Fashion for any shape – how to highlight your best features

The problem with fast fashion is that it misses a key point: women are different. Even if two people have similar measurements, it doesn’t mean that exactly the same size of clothes will fit them. But how do we know what fits us best and which items will bring out the best in us?

Firstly it is very important to know your body shape.

     The Pear body shape

The pear shape (or triangle) is characterized by narrow shoulders and a defined waist. The top half of the body is generally smaller than the part below the waist. Your cleavage is less full, therefore it is important to highlight other areas instead. Try balancing the fuller lower body with putting layers on your top body.

You can highlight your waistline with fitted styles and choose darker trousers with a straight or flare cut. Opt for A-line skirts and dresses that go beyond your knees and be brave with patterns.

    The Hourglass body shape

You can call your body shape ‘hourglass’, if your shoulders are almost the same width as your hips, with a defined waist and fuller bottom.

It is generally easy to dress for this body shape, as you can choose between V-necks, boat necks or round necks. You can pick peplum tops and wrap blouses. When wearing dresses, you have all the freedom in the world. Show off your silhouette and always highlight your waist! Stay away from boxy cuts and oversized items.

     The Apple body shape

This shape is fuller towards the middle section of the body. The tummy, and bust areas are in focus, which is why you need to optically lengthen your torso.

Tops should be flowy and go below your hipline. Avoid anything too tight or cropped tops. You can cover up with coats, jackets and vests that finish above your knees.

Wear dresses that are not too fitted and go beyond the thighs. Anything with V necks and boat necks can be ideal for your shape.

    The Athletic body shape

Your figure is similar to a rectangle; your shoulders are the same width as your hips and you have little waist definition.

As the weight is evenly distributed on your body, your aim is to create that little curviness, optically.

You can wear halterneck tops, or strapless styles, or opt for ¾ sleeves in darker shades. Choose trench coats or fitted coats to create some waist with belts and buttons. Stay away from oversized jumpers, jackets or tops in general.

A-line dresses and skirts can also create this hourglass visual, so be brave and choose these styles!

Below, you can wear skinny jeans or trousers, or even wider ones, with a gathered waist.

If you follow these simple steps, you will easily find what styles suit you best. If you are still unsure, make sure to consult with a stylist first!

Habits and strategies of the world's most successful female leaders

Habits and strategies of the world's most successful female leaders

‘The future is female’ says a famous slogan of our days, in a world, where women fight for the rights and get more and more accepted in every aspect of life.

Of course we are not saying that men are less important, but the tendency of women gaining power is also changing our lifestyle in major ways.

So if you want to join the powerful female leaders or at least learn from them, here is the perfect opportunity. We have collected some of the things influential women do in order to stay respected.

Of course there is no doubt how important outlooks are. ‘Dress the part’ is a motto every woman should have written on her wardrobe. In a professional environment always look smart, feminine and self-confident. Choose your clothing wisely, according to your physical qualities. You cannot go wrong with a black dress, a navy skirt and a white blouse.

The way you start your day is a crucial point when it comes to the evaluation of quality. Start early and with a positive mindset. Don’t rush. Try to do some kind of simple exercise, or even better, meditation before you even get ready. Eat enough and eat healthy. See the morning routine as a gift to yourself, as an hour (or more) of me-time.

Believe in karma, because it always works. So act kind and helping towards others. Co-workers, family members and even staff at your local grocery store. You will see magic instantly unfolding itself in front of your eyes.

Be active. And not just physically, (which is of course equally important) but also mentally.  Be a person, who makes the first step.  Approach new people with confidence, be open to others, feel curious. Networking is something we cannot live without in our personal lives or even in our careers. Don’t be lazy, if you have an idea, act and see if it works, you cannot loose anything.

Listen and speak up. It is very important that you say what is on your mind but are also open to issues of others. By doing so you will be more appreciated by others and will also know about every issue that might go on behind the scenes.

Always be true to yourself and never try to be anyone else, firstly because it is impossible and secondly because comparing yourself to others creates unnecessary stress. Insecurities are normal, the question is only how you handle them. So next time you see someone, who is better looking, richer, funnier or simply more successful than you, feel grateful for them and see them as your own personal teacher.

Stay flexible. Of course you can (and should) make plans for the near and far future but also give a little space for the unpredictable. If you are open to change and learn to let go easily, you will find that it reduces anxiety and can take you on completely new paths.

5 ideas to speed up your morning routine

5 ideas to speed up your morning routine

There isn’t much more precious than those extra five minutes in bed on a weekday morning, before starting your day. However we know that getting ready for work can take up valuable minutes especially, if you put extra effort into looking your best self. We have some tips for you to get back this additional time and get ready faster, easier and still be elegant on those tired mornings.

     1. Get ready in your head the night before

     Odyssey

Or actually the day before. Have a look at your diary and go through your schedule mentally. Prepare what you need to bring with you, who you will have to meet with.

    2. Clever beauty routine

Practice your everyday beauty routine and decide on a look that you want to go for on most days.

Most people shower in the morning, but it can take up extra time before going to work. In the early hours just wash your skin and apply a cream before doing your makeup.

     3. Have a manageable wardrobe

If all your pieces would match each other, how easy would your life be? You would not have to think much, but simply pick your favourite pair of trousers and match them with any shirt you find. Sort out your clothing items and make your wardrobe more manageable.

     4. Accessorize easily

You don’t have to leave this step because of a lack of time. Believe us, it is possible to have a colourful range of accessories you can mix and match to your mood and outfit.

    5. Feel good about you

When you feel feminine, elegant and beautiful, it is much easier to organize not only your mornings, but create an attracting aura around you.

Key elegant pieces every woman needs in their wardrobe

Key elegant pieces every woman needs in their wardrobe

Dressing elegantly is sometimes easier said than done. Whether you need an outfit for a long day of meeting in the office, or a look for a special event, sometimes you will find that your wardrobe has turned against you, offering a range of mixed pieces and styles, you simply cannot combine. But as with lots of other things, there is a solution, which is to have some key pieces in your wardrobe that can easily be matched to others, saving you time and stress.

    1. A crisp white shirt

They say, you only need a few high quality clothing items, well, this is definitely one of them. A good-fitting simple white shirt is an absolute must for every woman’s wardrobe. Make sure, you find the time to look for the perfect one, do not settle for second best! Also your shirt must always be clean and neatly ironed for a polished look.

    1. A black skirt

It might not be everyone’s ‘thing’, but a well-made black pencil skirt will save you precious minutes when deciding on your outfit. The skirt must be knee-length and should highlight your figure in a delicate way, without cutting into your flesh. For those of you, who are absolutely against the classic pencil cut, we recommend the A-line or skater variation.

    1. The LBD

Karl Lagerfeld once said “One is never over-dressed or under-dressed with a Little Black Dress” and we could not agree more. The LBD is the Jolly Joker of your wardrobe, which can be dressed up or down for various occasions. There are no strict rules when it comes to this type of dress, any shape, style and material can be the one, just make sure, you feel comfortable in it and you can wear it as much in summer as in winter. Then you are free to accessorize it with some colorful statement pieces!

    1. The perfect shoes

We recommend owning a pair of elegant, plain shoes in black, and another pair in a nude shade to create a perfectly mix and matchable shoe collection. If you feel comfortable in heels, opt for those with a reasonable height (4 inch stilettos might not be the ideal choice), otherwise pick a pair of ballerinas, or Oxford shoes in a plain shade.

    1. A practical bag

Every woman needs a handbag, or at least one! When choosing a bag, make sure, it is the right size (clutches and small bags are not practical for everyday use), the right colour (it matches your coat or jacket and your shoes) and that it is made of good quality materials. Authentic leather, in this case would make your bag last much longer, than its synthetic versions.

When you have these 5 pieces, you are ready for any kind of day!
